Fauxzen.com » california http://www.fauxzen.com Incoherent Ramblings in basic form Thu, 02 Feb 2012 17:36:32 +0000 en hourly 1 Napa Trip for a Wedding http://www.fauxzen.com/2011/napa-trip-for-a-wedding/ http://www.fauxzen.com/2011/napa-trip-for-a-wedding/#comments Wed, 02 Nov 2011 18:22:20 +0000 Shelby http://www.fauxzen.com/?p=3388 Last weekend I went with Kat to her sisters wedding up in Napa, to be specific in Calistoga which is north a bit.  This was my first time to wine country, and after being there it really makes me regret sleeping in the previous times I have had the chance to go.  It is such a beautiful place, and we ended up going to two wineries, the first being the Frank Family, and Chateau Montelena which was a really cool experience.  I wasn’t too impressed with Frank Family, only because the guy at the tasting was not very personal.  Chateau Montelena was fun though, and Kat even got attacked my a swan that she was feeding.  I am hoping that Kat and I get to make it back there sometime soon for another weekend.
The wedding itself was short and sweet, and took place at a winery which made for a really cool setting.  After the wedding instead of going to some boring hall, or country club we actually are in a cave on site.  I didn’t get too many pictures from within the cave, which now that I think of it I really should have.  I uploaded to pictures to my Picasa account which is now linked to my site here.  Click the read more to see all the pictures.

It was pretty fun, besides the horrible weather. Louie’s wedding seemed to have gone well, besides myself getting chock slammed on the beach in the whee hours of the morning. Other than that there was good food, good drinks and some fun times… ohh an mosquitoes too yay to them. The drive back from up north was pretty crappy, just lots of rain and dead deers on the side of the road. I got to spend some QT with the kidlet, she was sad when I had to leave. I felt really bad… but I couldn’t miss my flight. Speaking of the flight, I found out why my Laptop has been running like crap as of late…. 512mb of RAM is bad … it registers when it feels like and when that happens it blue screens. Well I cant argue too much with some RAM that I have had in my laptop for 3yrs, and bought used at that. Anyways I am back in sunny California again. I will post some pictures later today of the fun filled days that were in Michigan.

While waiting in line this guy walks up and asks me if I had ordered yet… I think it was a ploy for him to take my food. Anyways after he walked away from me, probably to go hide behind the trash can so that he could jump me after I got my food. I noticed it was no other than Gene Simmons himself. The overall shocking factor was that the place we were eating is somewhat like a High School Cafeteria, just didn’t expect that the man that once dressed up in a crazy outfit(and still does), and paints his face would eat.  Other than that lunch was pretty uneventful.  I really need to find some other places to eat near by as I am getting sick of Panda Express, Starbucks, Trimana… and even Blue Marlin.

Things are finally getting in place and I have a split sec. to post a little something. I have added some more pictures to the gallery and well other than that the site is about the same as it has been for the last couple of months. Living in the LA area is worlds better than Redlands ever was. Some people dont like the cities, I am not one of those people. The traffic can be a little daunting at times but all in all its just a way of life out here so it seems. It takes me about 30 mins to drive the 16 miles to work, and 45 mins if I get on the road late. Work is really keeping me busy, but I dont really mind it as its something that I really enjoy doing so it tends to keep my attention and I am not counting the hours or even minutes before I am supposed to leave like I was at my old job. Well besides the working over the last couple of weeks I have made it out a few times. I even made it down to Santa Monica to have a dirty martini with Allison, and to top it off paid 1.80 per 15 mins of parking too… Parking is lame thats all I really can say about that. Last weekend I went to the Lava Lounge in Hollywood, it was alright. The place reminded me of a Tiki bar of sorts, except they had some hardcore country music playing, I actually kind of liked it as it was heavier than the normal twangy crap. I also ended up drinking some good old Mickey’s Grenades, I bought out the last two six packs the store had and the last two forties as well. Anyways this weekend I might head up to Vegas to hang out with Burge and then to Bakersfield to BBQ with Sean.

I figured to change for 2 reasons.
1. I have lived in California for almost a year now and still had a Michigan nunmber
2. T-Mobile’s service was just not that good where I live, I mean depending which couch I sat on in my condo would make a difference if the call would drop or not.
I chose to go with Cingular since the use GSM phones, and the plans were pretty cheap… also you cant beat the Rollover mins. the downside of this is that I have had my 517 number since late 1999…. ohh well change is good. I ended up getting a Black Motorola Razr since it was on sale and so far seems to be a pretty sweet phone. I am sure that I will have more to say about the phone in the following weeks.
